American Shared Hospital Services is a provider of turn-key technology solutions for stereotactic radiosurgery and advanced radiation therapy equipment and services. Its segments include Leasing, and Retail. The Leasing segment comprises the Company’s medical equipment leasing. The Retail segment comprises facilities in Peru and Ecuador.
Its products include MR Guided Radiation Therapy Linacs, Advanced Digital Linear Accelerators, Proton Beam Radiation Therapy Systems (PBRT), Brachytherapy systems and suites, and through the Company’s subsidiary, GK Financing LLC., the Leksell Gamma Knife product and services. PBRT is an alternative to traditional external beam, photon-based radiation delivered by linear accelerators.
The Gamma Knife treats selected malignant and benign brain tumors, arteriovenous malformations, and functional disorders including trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain). It also provides the equipment and planning, installation, reimbursement and marketing support services..
