Major Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers experienced significant growth in their December vehicle deliveries, with XPeng leading the way. This company reported a remarkable delivery of 36,695 smart electric vehicles in December, marking an impressive 82% increase compared to the previous year. The month also saw a 19% rise over November's figures.
Notably, XPeng's popular models, the MONA M03 and P7+, delivered outstanding results, surpassing 15,000 and 10,000 units, respectively. Overall, XPeng delivered 91,507 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2024, which represents a robust 52% year-on-year growth, exceeding their initial guidance range of 87,000 to 91,000 units.
Throughout 2024, XPeng's total deliveries reached 190,068 vehicles, reflecting a solid 34% increase annually. Nio also showcased a strong performance, achieving a monthly record by delivering 31,138 vehicles in December, symbolizing a 73% increase from December of the previous year. Among these, Nio delivered 20,610 premium smart electric vehicles and 10,528 units of its family-oriented smart EV brand, ONVO.
For the fourth quarter, Nio's deliveries surged 45% year over year to a total of 72,689 vehicles, contributing to an annual total of 221,970 deliveries in 2024, up 39% from the prior year. Nio anticipates that the deliveries of its new ET9 electric vehicle will commence in March, followed by the launch of its Firefly model in April. Meanwhile, Li Auto reported 58,513 EV deliveries in December, marking a 16% increase year over year.
Earlier in the quarter, the company disclosed monthly vehicle deliveries of 51,443 in October and 48,740 in November. By October's end, Li Auto had set expectations for total fourth-quarter deliveries between 160,000 and 170,000 units.
