Critical Update for Ordinals Wallet: Upgrade to Version 0.21.2 to Avoid Vulnerability
10 months ago

On October 27, Ordinals founder Casey Rodarmor issued a reminder on the X platform, urging users to promptly upgrade their ord wallets to version 0.21.2. This important update addresses a critical vulnerability that could potentially lead to the unintended loss of runes when utilizing the 'ord wallet send' function due to the incorrect creation of change outputs.

Casey clarified that when a UTXO input incorporates multiple runes (A and B), sending rune A could inadvertently result in rune B being sent as well. Furthermore, this upgrade introduces a wallet address message signing feature, enhancing the security and functionality for users. Additionally, it resolves an issue concerning the minting progress display, ensuring that users can track their activities more effectively.

As of this moment, there have been no reports of asset loss attributable to this vulnerability, but it is vital for all users to implement this upgrade to safeguard their assets..
