Hong Kong's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has held steady at 3.1% for the September-November period, marking no change from the previous three months as per provisional data released by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) on Tuesday. Additionally, the underemployment rate remained unchanged at 1.1% during these two periods. In terms of the labor market dynamics, total employment saw an uptick of 4,700, reaching a total of 3.71 million, while the labor force expanded by 3,600, amounting to 3.83 million.
Furthermore, the number of unemployed individuals, based on non-seasonally adjusted figures, decreased by 1,000, bringing the total to 119,700. The underemployed demographic also exhibited a reduction, falling by 600 to reach 41,700. Analysis of unemployment rates displays mixed trends across various industries.
Noteworthy increases were observed in sectors such as decoration, repair, and maintenance for buildings, insurance, and postal and courier services. Conversely, declines were reported in warehousing and transportation support activities, alongside arts, entertainment, and recreation services.
