Market Outlook: Wall Street Futures Rise Ahead of Key Economic Reports and Earnings Releases

Wall Street futures pointed modestly higher pre-bell Monday as traders awaited fresh catalysts in a week somewhat light in earnings and economic reports. In the futures, the S&P 500 gained 0.2%, the Nasdaq edged 0.3% higher and the Dow Jones was up 0.1%. Asian exchanges traded mixed and muted overnight, while European bourses tracked moderately higher midday on the continent. The US Federal Reserve's preferred inflation metric, the personal consumption expenditure (PCE) core for August, will post Friday pre-bell. AutoZone, Micron Technology, Costco Wholesale, Cintas, Accenture, CarMax, and BlackBerry are among the companies due to release quarterly results later this week. On the economic calendar is the Chicago Fed National Activity Index for September at 8:30 am ET, followed by the S&P Global flash US PMI composite at 9:45 am. Federal Reserve Chicago President Austan Goolsbee speaks at 10:15 am, and Federal Reserve Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari speaks at 1 pm. In premarket activity, Bitcoin traded at $63,569, West Texas Intermediate crude oil traded higher at $71.27, and 10-year US Treasuries offered 3.75%.
