Market Rises as Amazon Boosts Investor Confidence

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV demonstrated an upward trend. The Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ), known for its high trading volume, saw a notable rise of 1%. US equity indexes experienced an increase following positive quarterly earnings reports from Amazon.com ($AMZN), which significantly improved overall market sentiment.

Additionally, government bond yields fluctuated amidst varying feedback from a recent jobs report. In the energy sector, the iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) recorded a slight loss of 0.1%, while the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) also dipped by 0.1%. The technology sector showed promise with the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gaining 1%.

Meanwhile, the iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) both added 1%. SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) experienced a notable rise of 2%, and the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) climbed 1.5%. In financial markets, the Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) advanced by 0.7%.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) increased by 1.7%, contrasting with its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), which declined by 1.6%. Commodities faced mixed results as crude oil prices rose by 0.9%, though the United States Oil Fund (USO) saw a decrease of 0.8%.

Natural gas prices dropped 2%, with the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) falling by 2.1%. Gold prices rose slightly by 0.1% on the Comex, but SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) experienced a decline of 0.1%. Silver also faced a minor drop of 0.2%, and the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) declined by 0.3%. In consumer sectors, the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) posted a slight increase of 0.1%.

The Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) reported gains. The Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) rose by 1.6%. Additionally, the retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) increased by 2.1%, while SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) added 0.6%. The health care sector performed positively with the Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) rising by 0.7%.

Both iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and the Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) trend upward, and the iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) saw an increase of 1.4%. In the industrial sector, however, Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) fell 0.3%, while Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) showed increases..
