Montenegro's Justice Minister Bojan Božović has confirmed that a decision has been made regarding the extradition of Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon. The extradition agreement is expected to be finalized by the end of this week, marking a pivotal step in a lengthy and contentious legal process that has extended over several months.
Božović did not elaborate further on the particulars surrounding the case or specify the destination of Kwon's extradition. He remarked, 'As the Minister of Justice, I have no additional comments beyond what the Supreme Court has already ruled.' Kwon’s legal tribulations in Montenegro commenced in March 2023, when he and Terraform's Chief Financial Officer Han Chang-joon were apprehended at Podgorica Airport for allegedly attempting to utilize forged documents.
Following their arrest, both Kwon and Han were sentenced to prison in Montenegro. However, they remained at the forefront of international extradition requests tied to their suspected involvement in the catastrophic 2022 collapse of TerraLUNA, which precipitated losses exceeding $40 billion. Notably, Han Chang-joon was extradited back to South Korea in early 2024 after serving his sentence, adding another layer to the complex narrative surrounding the Terra ecosystem and its co-founders..
